Nothing is as relaxing as a long, hot bath. It gives you some time to unwind and think (and maybe read a book). And you can’t really say “long, hot baths” without bath salts in the equation.
Bath salts are relaxing and provide a number of cosmetic and health benefits. Soaking in a warm salt solution, even just once a week for 15 - 20 minutes, offers great benefits in terms of improving the skin barrier function, hydrating and moisturising the skin, and decreasing inflammation.
They also soothe pain and help with insomnia – no more sleepless nights.
With all that said, let’s get to creating an inexpensive, healthy, soothing, and beautiful DIY bath soak. Share your creations on social media using #PerfectlymadeForEachOther, and you could be featured on the Consol Facebook page! Don’t forget to tag us.

Amount | Material |

1 cup | Epsom salt |
1/2 cup | Coarse grain salt (sea salt or kosher salt work well) |
1/4 cup | Bicarbonate of soda |
1/4 cup | Dried lavender or rose petals |
5 - 10 | Drops of your favourite essential oil (we recommend lemongrass, peppermint, or orange!) |
291ml | Consol My Jar |

Instructions
- Mix all the ingredients in a large glass bowl using clean hands or a clean spatula. Store in Consol jars until use, as well as in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months (3 months if you use oils).
- Pour 1/2 cup to 1 full cup in each hot bath for a wonderful and relaxing soak. This recipe makes about 5 cups in total, which should last you between 5-10 indulgent soaks/baths.
- Enjoy these from glass, because bath salts and Consol jars are #PerfectlyMadeforEachOther
