Ingredients Needed

4 cups | unsweetened cocoa powder, or ready-mixed hot chocolate powder |
1/2 cup | sugar |
1/4 cup | water |
5 cups | milk |
1 tsp | vanilla essence |
1/4 cups | dark chocolate chips |
- | Marshmallows to serve |
- | Toasted coconut flakes to serve |
For a vegan version, simply substitute the milk for coconut cream or milk, and vegan dark chocolate for the chocolate chips.
Directions:
- Heat the milk in a medium saucepan over medium to low heat.
- Add the cocoa or hot chocolate powder and the chocolate chips; stir until the powder dissolves.
- Continue stirring until the sugar dissolves; add the vanilla essence and stir.
- Pour into mugs and top with the marshmallows and coconut, and a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
This recipe makes about 6 cups of tummy-warming hot chocolate.
